Gastroenterological Treatments at Medcy Hospitals

We offer a wide range of gastroenterological treatments to help you achieve optimal digestive health.

Diagnostic & Therapeutic Procedures

  • Colonoscopy: A procedure to examine the large intestine and rectum. A long, flexible tube with a camera is inserted into the rectum, allowing doctors to look for polyps, inflammation, or other abnormalities in the colon to diagnose and treat diseases of the lower gastrointestinal tract.

Surgical Procedures

  • Pancreas Surgery: We perform surgical procedures to treat pancreatic diseases like chronic pancreatitis or tumors.
  • Whipple Surgery (Pancreaticoduodenectomy): A complex procedure for conditions like pancreatic cancer. The surgeon removes the head of the pancreas, a section of the small intestine, part of the bile duct, the gallbladder, and any related lymph nodes.
  • Pancreatectomy: This term refers to the surgical removal of part or all of the pancreas. Depending on the condition, this may involve a distal, central, or total pancreatectomy.
  • Haemorrhoidectomy: A procedure to treat and remove haemorrhoids (also known as piles), which are enlarged blood vessels inside or around the rectum and anus. It is typically recommended for large, severe haemorrhoids that cause significant discomfort.
  • Ileostomy: A surgery to create an opening in the abdomen (stoma) where the end of the small intestine is connected. This allows waste material to exit the body into an external pouch, bypassing the colon and rectum.

Condition-Specific Treatments

  • Diverticulitis Treatment: Diverticulitis occurs when small pouches in the colon wall become inflamed. Uncomplicated cases are treated with medication and a liquid diet. For complicated diverticulitis, surgery may be performed to remove the diseased parts, sometimes followed by a colostomy and bowel resection.
  • Ulcerative Colitis Treatment: This is a chronic inflammatory bowel disease where the digestive tract becomes inflamed and ulcers develop. Treatment involves medication, and in severe cases, surgery to remove a portion of the bowel followed by an ileostomy may be necessary.
