Welcome to Medcy Hospitals

Laparoscopic surgery, also known as keyhole surgery, is a minimally invasive procedure that uses small incisions to insert a laparoscope, a flexible tube with a light and camera and other specialized instruments to diagnose and treat conditions in the abdomen and pelvis.

This technique offers various benefits over traditional open surgery, including reduced pain, shorter hospital stays, faster recovery times, and minimal scarring due to the small incisions.

At Medcy Hospitals, our team of skilled surgeons utilizes advanced laparoscopic techniques to ensure successful procedures, faster recovery, and a quicker return to your daily life.

Types of Laparoscopic Surgeries at Medcy Hospitals

At Medcy Hospitals, we offer a variety of laparoscopic surgeries. Here are two of our primary procedures:

Splenectomy

A splenectomy is the surgical removal of the spleen, a fist-sized organ located under the left rib cage near the stomach. In some cases, a partial splenectomy may be performed.

During a laparoscopic splenectomy, a laparoscope is inserted into the abdomen via three to four small incisions. After locating the spleen on a monitor, the surgeon detaches the spleen from surrounding structures and the body’s blood supply. The spleen is then safely removed through the largest surgical opening.

Umbilical Hernia Repair

An umbilical hernia is a pouch that develops near the belly button when part of the intestine or abdominal tissue pushes through a weak area in the abdominal wall. Although common in infants, it can also occur in adults.

In a laparoscopic hernia repair, a surgeon makes small incisions near the hernia to insert a laparoscope. Using the images on a monitor, the surgeon gently places the protruding tissue or organ back into the abdomen and repairs the weak area of the abdominal wall. A synthetic mesh may be inserted to strengthen the area and prevent recurrence.
